How To: Blow Dry Hair Like A Pro

Hello beauties! I get asked often “how do you get your hair that straight?” or told “I wish I knew how to blow dry hair.” Well, here’s your chance to learn how to blow dry hair like a pro! Or as I like to call it, get a fierce blowetazo. I have pretty thick, curly hair & have become a pro at getting this baby super straight, to the point where people forget my real hair texture. Keep reading for some tips & tricks, below you will also find a tutorial I uploaded to my Youtube channel!

Few tips before I link the tutorial:

    • Air dry your hair for a bit, damp hair is best. Hair that is soaking wet will just take you longer to do.

    • Invest in a good blow dryer. Lightweight & powerful is what you are looking for! Here’s the one I use in the tutorial:

Below are other great affordable ones.

    • Invest in good ceramic, round brushes. They heat up quickly, & are amazing at smoothing out the hair. Here are the ones I used in the tutorial:

    • Always point the blow dryer down so it keeps the cuticle down; otherwise, it creates more frizz.
    • Start at the nape of your head & work your way up. Use the size of your brush barrel as reference for how big of pieces to dry at a time.
    • For curled ends, flick/wrap the hair off. For super straight hair, dry straight down going in towards your face.
    • For v-v-v-olume, place brush under hair & dry hair upwards.
    • Finish off & eliminate frizz with a bit of oil. If your hair tends to get oilier quicker, avoid your scalp & work mid-ends. Here’s the one I used in the tutorial:

Finally, here’s the tutorial:

Remember, practice makes perfect. If you don’t get it on the first try, try again. If you’re still not getting it after 5-6 times, book an appointment with me & I can hook you up! Hehe! Any questions? Ask away below! Know  of any other great hair products, please share below!

From Summer To Fall Hair

Hello beauties! As much as it pains me to write, summer is almost over…but with that starts new fall trends! Yayaya! I love fall hair, fall fashion, fall makeup! ? Today, I will be discussing fall hair!

So, you achieved & rocked your summer blonde, & now you’re tired of it. There is a right & wrong way of going from blonde to dark. Please-please-please don’t go out & buy a dark boxed color & apply it to your head, you will end up with an ugly muddy brown- or complain that “your blonde is coming back!” Leave it to the professionals!

If you’re like a few of my clients that drive me insane with: “I want to go dark!” Then two-three months later: “I want to go light!” I highly suggest you go the semi-permanent route. Tone it down to the dark, rich level you want to be, & it’ll be that much easier to lighten you back up to the light level you’ll want to be. Look for warmer hues, these keep the skin and eye color their most striking. Tones that are too ashy can make your features look bland- otherwise you’ll look pasty & hate it.

Another suggestion, my favorite one: play with some color! Get your mermaid hair on, or that beautiful rose gold (said to be the biggest trend this fall),  or even some vibrant reds!

I’m choosing to say screw the rule “light for summer, dark for fall!” Since I put my hair through a few bleach seasons, it deserves to be rocked some more! I’m loving the ability to keep my dark base & still have dimension on the rest of my locks. Plus, I toned it down a tad to a “bronde.”FullSizeRender 52

Another tip: remember that the shampoo & conditioner for your lighter hues should change to accommodate your new darker hues. The struggle is real in up keeping our beauty! Lol!

I Am A Queen Crowned In My Curls

Hello, beauties!

Originally, this wasn’t supposed to be what I was going to blog about today, but I keep getting asked questions regarding curly hair care. So I thought I’d type & post this really quick…Then I realized there are sooo many great tips, so I guess my other topic can wait! Lol!

For starters, let me tell you guys something about split ends: they move UP the hair strand! I know, you want to keep that hair as long as possible, but guess what? You’re just growing out dry, damaged hair! Moral of this story: keep up with your trims! (Contact me, I’ll hook you up! Hehe!)

Shampooing, Conditioning, Combing, & Drying-

Use a hydrating, sulfate & paraben free shampoo. Only shampoo your scalp. It takes longer for our natural oils to make their way down, so the more you wash your ends, the more you’re drying them out. Note: Usually these shampoos won’t give you any lather, so don’t think you just need to add more shampoo. That’s just how they are!

For conditioner, try not to get any on your scalp. Often times that’s what causes dandruff & dry scalp. Condition mid-strand to ends, that’s where your hair needs it the most! While I have the conditioner on, I grab a wide-toothed comb & detangle. Unless I blow-dry my hair, that’s the only time I comb it.

Try to do a hydrating mask once a week as well! I’ll list a good one below!

Now for drying: believe it or not, the absolute best thing to use to dry your hair is a t-shirt! Much softer than a towel. A towel is a tad rougher so it snags & creates frizz.

Speaking of frizz, guess what else causes it? Your pillowcases. Silk pillowcases are your bff, or you can just wrap your head in a silk scarf.

After I’ve “t-shirt” dried my hair, I apply my favorite products (listed below). Then I flip my hair over my head a few times, like a maniac, & diffuse. I love my hair fluffy, & high…the higher the hair, the closer to heaven! (Wink! [Still haven’t figured emojis on here!]) Another reason for the bigger hair is my 90 degree layered haircut, this haircut is perfect for curly heads! Frames & shapes my face, & gives amazing volume.

I hope this was helpful! Feel free to comment with any questions! See you in a couple of days!
